Forestry and farming wee the earliest means of making a living in Hållnäs, and the old agricultural landscape with its small fields and pastures is still maintained here. The stone walls and mounds are signs of the labour that went into clearing the land.

On the nothern part of the penisula lies Hållen village, from which Hållnäs takes its name. One of Sweden's largest collections of stone mounds is located here and shows the enormous amount of work demended of the farmers.
